IPTV in the USA with Sonix

Thinking of replacing cable or satellite with a streaming TV service? Sonix gives US households live channels, sports and an on-demand library through the TV or stick they already own, with prices in dollars and no installation appointment.

Cutting the cord

A five-step checklist before you cancel cable

Switching goes smoothly when you check a few things first. Do these in order and keep your old service until step 4 is done.

  1. List what you watch

Write down the channels and games you would miss. That is your test list.

  2. Check your internet

Run a speed test next to the TV: a steady 10–15 Mbps per HD screen.

  3. Check your device

Smart TV, Fire TV, Google TV or Apple TV. Send us the model.

  4. Test at prime time

Ask for a test line and watch your list on a busy evening.

  5. Then switch

Choose a plan and cancel the old service, keeping its return instructions handy.

Data caps

Does your internet plan have a monthly data cap?

Some US internet providers limit how much data you can use each month, or charge for going over. Streaming TV uses more data than browsing, so it is worth a quick check on your bill or your provider’s app.

Approximate monthly data use for HD streaming
HD viewing per dayApprox. data per month
2 hoursabout 180 GB
4 hoursabout 360 GB
6 hoursabout 540 GB

Based on roughly 3 GB per hour of HD. Actual use varies by channel and app.

Arizona (outside the Navajo Nation) does not change its clocks, so in summer it matches Pacific Time.

Around the house

Living room, bedroom, kitchen, phone

Most US homes have more than one screen. Sonix installs on each of them; the only limit is how many watch at the same moment.

  • Ask us about watching on more than one screen at once.
  • Put the main TV on a cable connection and let smaller screens use Wi-Fi.
  • A Fire TV Stick or Google TV device turns an older bedroom TV into a smart TV.

US questions

Watching in the US

Do I need a cable box or antenna?

No. Sonix streams over your home internet to a player app. You can keep an antenna for local broadcast channels if you like; the two work side by side.

Will my internet provider slow down streaming?

Some providers manage traffic at busy times. If you see buffering only in the evening, send us a speed test from that time and we will help you find the cause.

Are there taxes on top of the price?

The plan price shown is what we charge. We confirm the total in writing before you pay.

Can I watch while traveling in another state?

Yes, on a phone, tablet or laptop with a player app and a good connection. Hotel Wi-Fi can be slow, so test before the game.

Ready to test before you cut the cord?

Ask for a test line, watch your list on a busy evening, then decide. Keep your old service until you are sure.
