Smart TV
Most Samsung, LG, Google TV and Android TV sets from the last few years can run Sonix directly, with the TV’s own remote. The steps depend on the brand, and some apps use a device code instead of a login. This page explains both.

By brand
| TV system | Common brands | App store | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google TV / Android TV | Sony, TCL, Hisense, Philips, Sharp | Google Play | Excellent: the widest choice of player apps. |
| Tizen | Samsung | Samsung Apps | Good on most models from about 2018. |
| webOS | LG | LG Content Store | Good on most models from about 2018. |
| Fire TV built in | Insignia, Toshiba, Amazon | Amazon Appstore | Good: follow the Fire TV guide. |
| VIDAA and other systems | Some Hisense and budget sets | Varies | Limited: a streaming stick is usually easier. |
| Roku TV | TCL, Hisense, onn. Roku models | Roku Channel Store | Not recommended: add a Fire TV Stick or Google TV device. |
Good to know
Knowing which kind you have saves most of the confusion on Samsung and LG sets.
The app asks for a server address, username and password, or a playlist link. You type the Sonix details yourself. Common on Google TV and Android TV.
The app shows a code or MAC address on screen. You send us a photo; we link your plan to that TV. Common on Samsung and LG. Some of these apps charge their own small activation fee after a trial period; we tell you before you install.

Smart TV questions
It is on a label on the back of the TV, and usually in Settings → Support → About this TV. Send us a photo of the label if you are unsure.
Possibly, but older smart TVs often lack suitable apps or run them slowly. A Fire TV Stick or Google TV device is usually the better choice.
Some TV player apps are made by other companies and charge their own fee after a trial. That fee goes to the app maker, not to Sonix. We tell you in advance if the app we recommend does this, and suggest a free alternative where one exists.
Yes. Once set up, you change channels, open the guide and browse on-demand with your normal TV remote.

We will tell you whether it runs Sonix directly, which app to use and whether a streaming stick would be better.
