Devices that work with Sonix IPTV

Sonix runs in a standard IPTV player app, so it works on most screens bought in the last few years. Find your device below. If yours is not listed, or is more than about six years old, send us the model and we will tell you honestly how well it will work.

Internet

What your connection needs

IPTV is more sensitive to a steady connection than to a fast one. A modest plan with a stable line beats a fast plan on weak Wi-Fi.

  • 10–15 Mbpsper screen in HD, steady
  • 5 GHzWi-Fi band to use near the router
  • Ethernetbest for live sport
  • About 3 GBper hour of HD, roughly, for data caps

Buying a device?

If your TV is too old

  • A recent Fire TV Stick or a Google TV streaming device turns almost any TV with HDMI into a smart TV.
  • Choose a model with 5 GHz Wi-Fi, and an Ethernet adapter if the TV is far from the router.
  • Ask us before you buy. We will tell you which models customers find easiest to set up.

Device questions

Before you set up

My TV is not a smart TV. Can I still use Sonix?

Yes. Plug a streaming device such as a Fire TV Stick or a Google TV device into an HDMI port and install the player app on it.

Can I use Sonix on my phone away from home?

Yes, on a phone or tablet with a player app. Streaming on mobile data uses roughly 1 to 3 GB per hour depending on quality, so check your data plan.

Will an older Samsung or LG TV work?

Many models from about 2018 onward work well. Older sets may not have a suitable app or may run slowly. Send us the model number from the label on the back.

Can I cast from my phone to the TV?

Often, yes, with AirPlay or Chromecast, but a player app installed directly on the TV or a streaming stick gives a steadier picture and works with the remote.

Not sure about your device?

Send us the model and we will tell you whether it works well, which app to use and what to change if it does not.
