IPTV on Fire TV Stick: set up Sonix step by step

The Fire TV Stick is the most popular way our customers watch Sonix. It is inexpensive, plugs into any TV with HDMI and runs the player apps we recommend smoothly. Here is how to set it up properly the first time.

Setup

Six steps from box to first channel

  1. Update the stick

Settings → My Fire TV → About → Check for updates. A current system avoids most app problems.

  2. Find the player app

Search for the app we recommended. If it is in the Amazon Appstore, install it there and skip to step 5.

  3. Allow the installer (only if needed)

Settings → My Fire TV → About: select the device name several times to enable developer options. Then allow “Install unknown apps” for the installer app only.

  4. Install from the link we send

Use only the link we send you on WhatsApp, then switch the permission off again.

  5. Add your Sonix details

Open the player → add user or playlist → enter the details exactly as sent.

  6. Restart once

Unplug the stick for ten seconds. The guide loads cleanly after a restart.

Before you start

Plug the stick into the HDMI extender that came in the box. It moves the stick away from the TV’s metal panel and can noticeably improve Wi-Fi.

Stay safe

Never install apps from links posted in forums or sent by strangers. We only send links to the player app we recommend for your device.

Remote tips

  • Hold Home to jump to settings and sleep quickly.
  • Use the Fire TV app on your phone as a keyboard for long details.
  • In most players, long-press OK on a channel to add it to favorites.

Fire TV fixes

Three Fire TV problems and how to solve them

Buffering on the stick

  1. Use the HDMI extender.
  2. Switch to 5 GHz Wi-Fi.
  3. Settings → Applications → Manage installed applications → clear the player’s cache.

“Low storage” warning

  1. Uninstall apps you no longer use.
  2. Clear cache on large apps.
  3. Restart the stick.

Stick restarts on its own

  1. Use the original wall adapter, not the TV’s USB port.
  2. Check the cable is the one that came in the box.
  3. Make sure the stick is not overheating behind the TV.

Fire TV questions

Fire Stick and Sonix

Is it safe to allow “unknown apps” on a Fire Stick?

It is safe when you install a known app from a trusted link and switch the permission off afterwards. The risk comes from installing random apps from unknown sources. If the player is in the Amazon Appstore, you do not need this setting at all.

Can I use Sonix on two Fire Sticks?

Ask us about watching on more than one screen at once. You can install the player on both and enter the same details.

Which Fire Stick should I buy for IPTV?

If you are buying new, a Fire TV Stick 4K or 4K Max gives the smoothest experience. Older models still work, just with slower menus.

Does a Fire Stick need a VPN for Sonix?

No. Sonix works without one. If you already run a VPN and see buffering, try switching it off.
